Building a World of Inclusion for People with Health Conditions and Disabilities

Lynwood, California

While ABILITY Awareness has been building all across the country, we thought it was time we build in our own backyard! Working with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, ABILITY Awareness and a team of volunteers with varying levels of disabilities and health conditions gathered to hang drywall on some homes for low-income families.

First-time volunteer groups from New Directions, Inc. and Jr. Blind of America joined some of the more veteran ABILITY volunteers. Lead by the "B Team" (Billy & Bethy) of site supervisors, ABILITY volunteers accomplished a lot in their days' work and even had a little fun along the way! Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles was a wonderful affiliate to work with and we look forward to many more days building with them. For more on this build, stay tuned for an upcoming article in ABILITY Magazine!
