Arundel, Maryland: ABILITY Blitz BuildAnne Arundel County in Maryland was the site of the third ABILITY House and a tremendous success! Arundel Habitat for Humanity was fully prepared to do a modified Blitz Build (the entire exterior was completed within one week) and we had a wonderful turn-out of volunteers with disabilities from the community. With both these factors in play, it made for a build that was an exceedingly positive experience for all. Bill Schummer, an Arundel Habitat board member and regular volunteer said: “I have been a part of the Grumpy Old Men’s Wednesday Construction Crew here in Anne Arundel County for more than five years and have participated in three previous blitz builds—two with Millard Fuller and one a Jimmy Carter Work Project—but I have never had a more rewarding experience than spending the day [on the ABILITY House build]." In addition, the Goodlife TV Network was producing a series called "Volunteerism: For the Sake of Others" and filmed an entire episode around the ABILITY Build and this home. Wonderful exposure for our program, Arundel Habitat for Humanity and our sponsors! Click here to read more about this story in ABILITY Magazine.
