HOW YOU CAN HELP

We just couldn't do it without you! Your generous gifts of time, money and in-kind donations help keep us going.

Whether you are a business, organization or individual, no matter what your circumstances, there is a donation option just right for you.

Looking for ideas?

Here are ways you can help.

Consider a monetary contribution. We depend upon your donations to help us make a difference in someone's life. The growing need for affordable accessible housing, the fact that 7 out of 10 people will at some point in their life be diagnosed with a disability, and with the need for more services to provide the support they will need makes it critical for us to receive charitable financial donations from people like you. Without you, ABILITY Awareness would be unable to expand its programs and services to the thousands of people with disabilities and other health conditions who need it most.

Gifts received in the form of unrestricted financial support will be used to fund our most pressing needs. which includes building our internal capacity in order to support our education, housing and employment services. Typically, between 87 and 92 cents of every dollar donated to ABILITY Awareness goes directly to support our programs.

Please join us and make a financial investment of $25, $50, $100 or whatever you can afford to help empower people with disabilities and other health conditions to lead valued lives and embrace self-sufficiency.

Include ABILITY Awareness in your will. No one knows what the future holds. That is why it is important for us, as individuals and as an organization, to plan for the future. A will is a declaration of what matters to you.  By leaving a bequest ABILITY Awareness, you will guarantee that the work we do will continue.  Bequest gifts are an important source of support for ABILITY Awareness. They enable individuals to make significant commitments that would not be possible during their lifetimes.

There are many ways to leave a bequest to ABILITY Awareness in your will:

  • You can leave a set dollar amount.

  • You can leave a particular asset such as securities, real estate or a valuable collectible.

  • You can designate ABILITY Awareness as the beneficiary of a percentage, or all, of your residuary estate after specific bequests are made to family members or friends.

Your bequest to ABILTY Awareness may be completely deductible for estate tax purposes. Always consult with your estate planning representative, tax advisor or attorney for more information.

The legal designation for ABILITY Awareness in your will or trust is "ABILITY Awareness, a nonprofit organization with headquarters located in Santa Anna, California."

For more information, please JBeekman@abilityawareness.org or call (714) 277-4330.

Give at the workplace. Now, you can participate in your workplace charity giving program, while also helping ABILITY Awareness meet its annual program goals.

The United Way Campaign is the most common workplace giving campaign used by many large and small companies across the country.  Donations to most United Way Campaigns can be directed to ABILITY Awareness. Giving through your workplace campaign allows you to participate with your co-workers to achieve goals set by your company while you get the added assurance that your dollars will be used to fund a charity that is important to you.

Most workplace campaigns take pledges in the last quarter of each year and offer variable payment methods.  Usually, you are allowed to take out small amounts of money from your paycheck each month to fulfill your pledge.  For example, writing a single check for $300.00 may be a strain on your budget.  But that same contribution, spread out over twelve months as a monthly $25 payroll deduction, may not be as difficult.

To designate your contribution to ABILITY Awareness, all you have to do is write in our organization's name and address in the appropriate section on your giving form. Your United Way Campaign Coordinator can assist you.

Become a Corporate Sponsor. Corporate support through sponsorships, cause marketing initiatives, and product promotions provides ABILITY Awareness with an opportunity to reach out to a variety of audiences to promote the understanding that everyone deserves to live in an accessible community and lead a valued life.

By becoming a Corporate Sponsor, you can:

  • Change lives. Having a home is often something we take for granted. For some, it is an almost impossible dream. By sponsoring an ABILITY House that will be a home to a low-income family with a member with a disability or health condition, you will not only help offset costs of construction, but your employees will have the opportunity to be involved with the homeowners in making their dream come true.
  • Increase employee morale. Employee turnover costs US corporations millions of dollars each year. Business experts agree that one way to reduce turnover, and thereby help improve your company's net profits, is to increase employee morale. Employees feel good about working for a company that does good. Providing a meaningful opportunity that all employees can identify with and embrace as a good cause can produce positive tangible results for your business.
  • Maximize your marketing dollars. High profile events, hospitality opportunities, your company's name connected with an internationally acclaimed program are all part of maximizing your marketing dollars. Not only will your sponsorship be promoted in main-stream media, but your involvement will be promoted in specialized media as well. What a great opportunity to target market and reach the customers that can most positively impact your bottom line!
  • Improve communities. Corporations large and small depend on the communities in which they are located for support. It is where you find your employees, where you live, and where your presence is felt the most. A healthy community produces the employees you need to run your business and the customers you need to sustain it. Building homes in your community and supporting a cause that improves the local economy keeps your company viable and healthy and that is just plain good business.
  • Promote corporate responsibility. We live in a diverse culture with people who have diverse needs and abilities to offer the communities in which they live. By supporting the concept of universal design, providing employment and volunteer opportunities for people with disabilities and other health conditions, and supporting ABILITY Awareness' mission, you are promoting the idea of full inclusion for everyone in society regardless of ability or disability. It is a community leadership role that demonstrates corporate responsibility and commitment to diversity.

We have many sponsorship opportunities available that can be customized to meet your company's needs. Contact JBeekman@abilityawareness.org or call (714) 277-4330, to learn more.
